The Eyes of Tammy Faye
In the struggle between spirituality and money, the winner is obvious for materialism in this director's wonderfully garish biopic about the fallen televangelist and her felon spouse. Andrew Garfield portrays the corrupt Bakker, who states at the beginning, “God does not want us to be poor,”. Both individuals begin profiting from the American public's spiritual convictions. It's a spectacle of bad interior design, bad makeup and bad faith, yet Jessica Chastain achieves to show the real-life figure as a sympathetic figure. Next Tuesday, 1.15am, on Film4
