Zohran Mamdani Vows a 'New Era' for New York City in Maiden Address
During an first day in the mayor's office, Zohran Mamdani vowed to “reinvent” New York City, ushering in “a new era” and an ambitious start to his term.
A Groundbreaking Mayor
The new political star, who just a year ago remained a relatively obscure state assemblyman, has become the city's first mayor of South Asian descent. He additionally marked a milestone by being the first to be take the oath of office using the Islamic holy text.
